MDF Wall Panel Installation

STEP ONE - CONDITIONING THE PANELS
Remove all packaging from your panels and stack the panels flat on the floor of the room where you intend to install them 48 hours before installation. This allows the panels to acclimatize to the environment.

STEP TWO - WALL PREPARATION
Installing MDF panels over existing walls requires minimal preparation, provided the surface is clean, free of grease, and secure. Remove any loose wallpaper or paint and stabilise loose plaster to ensure a smooth application.

STEP THREE - SETTING OUT
In most cases, you won’t need to mark the height of the panel if you’re installing it at its pre-cut height. However, for older properties or homes with uneven floors, locate the highest point of the floor, mark the panel height from the top of the skirting, and use a level to extend this mark around the room.

If you require the panels to be of a non-standard height, mark your level at the highest floor point and extend that mark around the room using a level.

STEP FOUR - WHERE TO START?
It’s best to start from a door opening or corner of the room. Lay out the panels around the room to identify where cutting is required and ensure you have enough MDF panels to complete the job.

Hold up your starting panel against the wall, ensuring it sits squarely on the skirting and fits tightly into the corner (grooved edge in) or against the door architrave. If there are gaps, trim the edge to fit correctly before proceeding.

Tip: Cut panels as needed during installation rather than cutting all panels in advance. Consider the location of sockets and radiators at this stage.

STEP FIVE - APPLYING ADHESIVE
Apply a 6mm-width bead of grab adhesive in a ‘Z’ pattern across the back of the panel.

STEP SIX - FITTING TO THE WALL
Remove the paper backing from the foam pads (if applicable) and place the bottom edge of the panel on top of the skirting. Ensure the left edge is tight into the corner or against the door frame architrave, then press firmly to the wall.
